Assessment Tool for Green Finance Engagement
The Green Finance Explorer supports financial entities to identify relevant financial and non-financial measures to engage with this transformation.
What is this assessment tool about?
The Green Finance Explorer is an assessment tool that supports financial entities to identify relevant financial and non-financial measures to engage with green finance. The Green Finance Explorer provides a series of questions to help financial entities assess which measures are most relevant to them.
Who should use the assessment tool?
The assessment tool focusses on public financial entities, but is relevant to any public or private financial institution seeking to support the acceleration of green finance who fulfils at least one of the following:
- The entity has regulatory or policy powers, including regulation of financial markets or policy incentives (e.g. line ministries, central banks, ministries of finance)
- The entity manages public funds, can allocate budgets, or directly finances investments (e.g. development banks, public trust funds)
- The entity has a networking or communication function or provides a trading facility for the financial sector (e.g. banking associations, industry dialogue platforms, stock exchanges).
The assessment tool can also be relevant to third parties supporting the above group of actors.
How does the tool work?
For information on how the tool works, please see the methodology behind the tool here.
The BMZ study The Role of National Financial Institutions in the Implementation of NDCs provides further background regarding green finance, with case studies of green finance measures being successfully deployed by public and private financial entities internationally.
What will happen to the responses given?
Completing the questionnaire is voluntary and anonymous, and there is no link between the participant and a completed questionnaire form. The data will not be passed onto third parties.
